ZenaTech Inc. ($zena) is actively expanding its footprint in the drone services sector with several key developments this summer. On August 6, the company completed its 27th Drone as a Service (DaaS) acquisition by purchasing Galena-Benchmark Engineering in Idaho, marking its entry into the state and broadening its civil engineering and land surveying capabilities. This move positions $zena to tap into Idaho’s growing construction, agriculture, and public sector markets by integrating drone-enabled surveying, environmental monitoring, and precision agriculture services through its ZenaWorx platform, aiming to create new recurring revenue streams.
Earlier in August, $zena also filed five provisional patents for acoustic fire suppression technology designed to be deployed via its ZenaDrone platform. This innovative approach uses low-frequency sound waves to combat wildfires, potentially reducing reliance on traditional water or chemical methods and enhancing firefighter safety. The technology could open doors for government and commercial emergency management contracts, addressing a market expected to reach $2.8 billion by 2033.
In the energy sector, $zena’s July acquisition of Velocity Geomatics strengthens its presence in Canada’s oil and gas market, which is benefiting from a recent surge in oil prices and significant planned investments. Velocity’s drone-based regulatory and environmental surveying services align well with the increased drilling and infrastructure activity driven by higher cash flows among producers in Alberta, British Columbia, and Saskatchewan.
On the defense front, $zena’s subsidiary ZenaDrone has initiated flight testing of its Interceptor P-1, a low-cost, single-use autonomous drone designed to counter hostile unmanned aerial systems. This VTOL interceptor aims to provide a more affordable alternative to traditional missile-based drone defense systems, with initial tests focusing on flight performance and autonomous capabilities. The company is also expanding its manufacturing footprint internationally to support this product, reflecting growing global demand for cost-effective counter-drone solutions in military and critical infrastructure protection.
Overall, ZenaTech is leveraging acquisitions, innovative technology patents, and product development to diversify and deepen its offerings across commercial, environmental, energy, and defense drone markets, positioning itself for growth in multiple high-demand sectors.
