Getlink SE ($GRPTY) reported a mixed picture for its Channel Tunnel shuttle traffic in May 2026. Passenger vehicle volumes showed a healthy 4% increase year-over-year, reaching 203,872 vehicles, signaling continued demand for LeShuttle’s passenger services. However, freight traffic softened, with truck shipments falling 2% compared to May 2025, and also declining slightly month-over-month. This brought the year-to-date truck traffic down 2% to 487,225 units. Meanwhile, despite the recent passenger growth, cumulative passenger traffic for the year remains 2% below last year’s pace at 756,141 vehicles. Investors will be watching closely for the June traffic update due July 7 to see if these trends persist.
Earlier in the year, March data showed a similar pattern with passenger vehicles up 8% year-over-year for the month but freight down 1%. For the full first quarter, passenger traffic was nearly flat, dipping just 1% from 2025, while truck freight declined 2%. These figures highlight ongoing challenges in freight volumes despite steady passenger demand, reflecting the mixed dynamics shaping Getlink’s core shuttle operations.
U.S. markets are currently closed and will reopen today at 9:30 AM ET.

Stocks that show steady passenger growth but fluctuating freight volumes often reflect broader economic shifts in consumer travel versus commercial shipping demand, which can impact transportation companies differently over time.
