Iovance Biotherapeutics Inc. ($iova) saw its stock soar to a fresh 52-week high following an impressive second-quarter earnings report released earlier this month. The company posted $99.3 million in revenue for Q2 2026, marking a 66% increase year-over-year, driven primarily by robust sales of its cancer treatment Amtagvi (lifileucel), which accounted for about $91 million of total revenue. This strong commercial momentum helped narrow the company’s net loss to $47.3 million, less than half of the loss recorded in the same quarter last year, signaling meaningful progress toward profitability.
Alongside the revenue growth, Iovance improved its gross margin to 56%, up significantly from 41% in the previous quarter, thanks to higher sales volumes, cost efficiencies, and fully in-house manufacturing. The company also maintained a healthy cash position of approximately $304 million, expected to fund operations well into the second half of 2028. Management highlighted ongoing expansion efforts, including authorizing new treatment centers and advancing global approvals, notably in Australia, where melanoma rates are among the highest worldwide.
Investor enthusiasm was reflected in a 43% jump in the stock price immediately after the earnings release, with hedge funds increasing their holdings by 46% in the first quarter of 2026. Iovance is currently reviewing its full-year revenue guidance, initially set between $350 million and $370 million, with an update expected during the third quarter as demand trends remain strong. The company’s leadership emphasized their commitment to operational excellence and financial discipline, positioning $iova as a notable player in the immuno-oncology space with potential for further growth and market expansion.
